spider man is sold out. i had to get tickets to the 8pm showing. it better be good :->
ugh
It's pretty bad when you can throw me a linux box and a cisco and I can make you a secure server with an internet connection in under an hour, but you give me a microwave and I spend 3 minutes figuring out how to use the damn thing.
I wish I were kidding.
I can grok the command line like it's nobody's business, but man, you throw something with beepy buttons and I'm all like "huh?". I manage to pop popcorn everyday at work because it has a button that pops the popcorn for me. I try to warm up a burrito at home, and it's like rocket science.
I think my brain has been fried by technology. Today I was discussing how to multihome a laptop with it's own ASN and /24 using a Verizon CDMA modem and a Sprint CDMA modem for your redundant connections, and using zebra to establish bgp sessions.
I'm just a sick, sick bastard, that's all there is to it.
Blah, pretty interesting evening. Not too bad, not to exciting. Radio shack phone people are idiots. So is verizon. Their own CSRs didn't know about a service they supposedly offer according to their website.
Oh well. I'll take my business elsewhere.
Anyway, today we had excellent propogation of 802.11b waves today. Picked up APs I've never seen before, quite well even. That reminds me I've gotta upgrade the firmware on B's card next time I'm there. I think it improves range slightly.
Apologies to
Anyway, I'm exhausted, and I can't find my fuzzy again. I need to get that thing surgically attached to me or something. π
update: I found my fuzzy. w00t!
Got pulled over again today. Another waivable headlight ticket.
I tried turning on my interior light in addition to the way I usually make my hands visible. The cop seemed taken aback, and quite at ease. He even forgot to ask me for my proof of insurance. It was funny.
I was pulled over because my brake light had part of it that was "visibly white" (it's a tiny bit cracked, I'm going to put some red tape on it today I think so I don't get pulled over for that again anymore.. That and he didn't notice the turn signal on that side was burned out. woot.)
Anyway, I got a headlight ticket, as usual. Now I just gotta toss a few bucks at a bulb. I think I'll wrap my headlight in packing tape to see if it will keep the bulb dry so it doesn't explode again. One of these days I gotta get myself a recently new used car that doesn't look so suspicious. :->

Livejournal looks really screwy in Hebrew
Mazel Tov to livejournal for multiple language support though, that's cool.
Anyway, I'm going to push myself into the office today. Still don't feel the best, but good enough to function, I believe.
Where's noweb4u?
Oh, I'm still here.
Not feeling well though. Why do I have to get sick when my work gets new toys I want to play with, and not when it's boring normal work?
At least it was quiet last night…
Seen my family this weekend. Need new tie rods and front drivers side bearing on my car pretty soon. It's supposedly looking really nasty. Guess I'm going to stick to commuting in that beast until I can get that done.
I signed up for sams club. I'll try it out and see if it's worth it. I don't live too far from it, so it's not all that difficult to hit up.
Got mad bills to pay this month. My ISP is having problems authenticating me to bond to 128k ISDN. This resulted in my systems making over 1800 local calls trying to rebond to 128k after a phone call. I'm raging pissed at my ISP. My phone bill went from $53.38 to $96.15 this month. That and with my tax payments last month, I couldn't pay the electric bill, plus the A/C is operating really screwy, so there's an aded $150 on top of what I didn't pay last month. Ugh.
I should be able to afford all of it, but this sucks. Less income to save for car repairs and stuff. *pout*
If you're one of my friends, you'll want to read this article on nolo.com:
Things to remember when you're stopped by a Police Officer
Totally, bar none, take notes on this one: MAKE THE OFFICER FEEL SAFE!!
I have been let off on several trivial tickets for this behavior. Especially in high risk areas like big cities or dark areas, cops love it. I mean, like I've been thanked before for doing things to help them know it's safe to approach me.
Many thanks to Jack for the link. I've learned alot of this the hard way, and it's good to have it documented somewhere so others don't have to.
