Our house has crazy ass antennas now. We have in the last few days picked up texas, and today we picked up a photo sent over ham radio (20m SSTV for those in the know) from both Madrid, Spain and somewere in England.
Seriously we have serious gear now.
Also we got a ICOM 706MKIIG for our radioing now. It's most excellent. I've wanted one of these for years. They're excellent ham radios. It's our mutual early Christmas present to each other. (Last years was a DVD changer and a surround sound receiver)

Our house, from the corner of Dequindre and Fontaine. You can sorta tell we have some antenna stuff going on |
Now we all need to study and go for our General and Extra class licenses.
The 706 is a pretty sweet rig, I too have wanted one for some time, ever since I got my license in fact.
I really need to do some more radio stuff again…
I've wanted one since it first came out (the MKIIG anyway, 440 is important to me). I forgot I bought all my other stuff with compatibility with it in mind. I'm like hey, this is all going too smoothly. Also, I think this connector looks familiar. Oh yea, I got a cable that adapts this to the control thingus on the tuner! Oh yea, I wanted one of these radios so I got the cable for it! hah!
That seems too smart, my setup is a such a mismash of gear nothing works together without a bunch of work.
The big thing I need to do right now is find the time and get some antennas up at the house.
I think that last squirrel might be a bit determined about staying in your chimney. 😉
